  • Feature: Add a widget to a dashboard layout.

  • Use: Display information in the preferred format.

What is a widget?

It's a block that displays information (e.g. data, images, videos, text, feed, weather, etc.) in a customizable format (e.g. pie chart, rich text, etc.). Users can resize or reposition widgets on the dashboard.

Prerequisites

Reviewing widget options

To explore the available widget options, click the Dashboard link on the side menu. Then click Edit Layout > Add Widget.

Go to the popup and click the Type field. The drop-down shows two types of widgets: Data and Other.

Data widgets

There are seven Data types. Click a link to learn how to create each Data type.

Other widgets

There are seven Other types.

Managing widgets

To edit or resize a widget, go to the dashboard and click the Edit Layout link at the top of the page. Hover the mouse on a widget to unhide the widget tools.

  1. Click the lock icon to prevent any user from changing the size and shape of the widget on the dashboard. Click the pencil icon to edit widget settings.

  2. Hover the mouse to display a data modal. Click the bar to open a popup and view the task/asset summary. This hover feature is available for some but not all data types (e.g. not available for gauges).

  3. Click and drag the corner icon to change the size and shape of the widget.

Click the Done Editing link in the top right corner of the dashboard to save changes and close the widget editor.
