Create a dashboard widget to display a number.

Opening the Create Widget window

To create a widget:

  1. Click Dashboard on the side menu.

  2. Go to the top right corner and click Edit Layout> Add Widget.

  3. Click the Type field and select Number Pad.

  4. Fill in the fields (see below).

  5. Add filters. (optional, learn more)

  6. Click Create.

Filling in the fields

Go to the top of the window and enter a title and description (optional). Click the Choose Primary Focus link to select a data set.

In the popup, go to the Primary Focus field and select an option (e.g. assets, tasks, or work orders). Depending on your selection, the popup displays additional fields. Select an option for each field. Click Save to close the popup.

Customize settings.

  • Show on Mobile - This feature is enabled by default. Uncheck the box to hide this widget on mobile devices.

  • Color - Customize the colour of the widget on the dashboard.

  • Use Threshold Colors - Check this box to auto-change the widget colour when a numerical target has been achieved. See below for threshold customization options.

  • Unit Labels - Optionally, display the unit of measurement (e.g. kilograms, hours, etc.) next to the number in the widget.

  • Aggregate Type - Choose a data display format (e.g. count, average, sum, etc.). The range of available options depends on the Primary Focus value. If you choose any operator other than Count, click the Add Column button and select a parameter.

  • Launch Link - When a user clicks the dashboard widget, Nektar opens a link. The default link is the widget's Details page. See below for link customization options.

Setting thresholds

Use colours to communicate a number's status in relation to pre-defined thresholds. Select an operator, add a value, and choose a colour. Optionally, select the Flash checkbox. When this threshold has been reached, the widget flashes on the dashboard.

In the below screenshot, the widget displays the fuel volume in one outdoor storage tank. Green indicates the tank volume is satisfactory. Orange indicates action is needed soon, and red suggests the volume has reached a critically low level.

Launch Link

By default, each Number Pad widget links to the relevant Details page. Optionally, you can add a custom link that opens a specific Nektar page or both (Details and custom link).

To add a custom link, enter a name in the Custom Link Name field and a Nektar account page URL. This feature does not allow linking to an external page. Select a Link Open Type option. Normal is the default setting, which means the custom link opens in the same browser tab.

To add a global variable, click the link, select an option, and click Insert.

Adding filters

Add one or more filters to disaggregate data and focus on a defined subset. In the example below, the user created a widget to show the volume of fuel inside an outside fuel storage tank.

The Number Pad widget shows the fuel level and tank name.
