  • Feature: The dashboard layout is a customizable container for data visualization tools.

  • Use: Set up the dashboard with a layout that helps users quickly interact with relevant data organized by widgets and variables.

Prerequisites

Admins can disable, enable, or limit user access to the dashboard layout tool at the group level. To view or edit permissions, open the Permissions Manager page, select a group, click the Dashboards tab, and expand the General tab.

Check or uncheck the Create Global Layouts box to display or hide the New Layout dashboard link. Optionally, check the box to enable the Create Private Layouts feature.

Reviewing the tools

Use the tools at the top of the dashboard to configure options and settings.

  1. Layout Selector - Click the field and select a different dashboard layout. Similar to #9.

  2. New Layout - Create a new dashboard layout.

  3. Edit Layout - Open the editor and update widgets and variables on the current layout.

  4. Clone - Copy the current layout. In the popup window, rename the clone and change the Type (e.g. make it private or global).

  5. Delete - Remove the layout from the platform. There is no trash can (to retrieve deleted layouts) or Undo function.

  6. Detach - Open the dashboard in a separate window.

  7. Refresh - Click the link and select Refresh All to update the data in every widget. Optionally, select Auto Refresh Settings and select a frequency to auto-update widgets.

  8. Fullscreen - Display the layout without dashboard menus.

  9. Browse Layouts - Open a panel with two tabs that display private and global layouts. Select an option to change the current dashboard layout.

  10. Variables - If you create variables, they display here.
