  • Use: Tasks collect data about activities tied to a specific asset. All tasks are created through a task definition. The task definition describes the type of data to collect.

Prerequisites

Know how to create and manage task definitions.

Recording a task

There are two ways to open the Record Task page: from the dashboard and from a task definition page. The best path depends on your starting point.

Dashboard

  1. Click Tasks > Record Task on the side menu.

  2. Click the fields to select an Operation and Name. The page displays Sections, elements, and other fields for that task definition.

Task definition page

If you are working inside a task definition, click the three-dot icon and select Record Task. A new window displays sections, elements, and other fields for that task type.

Filling in the fields

Every task must have at least one section and one element. Depending on the task, there could be multiple sections and a long list of elements. Required fields have a red bar next to the element label.

Using the toolbar

Use the toolbar at the top of the Record Task page to help fill in the fields. Click Clear All to remove all values from the element fields.

Click the three-dot icon to open a menu.

  • Hide Captions - Temporarily remove the descriptive text from each element row.

  • Create Quick Link - Generate a unique URL for this Record Task page. Use the link to bookmark the page or display it on the dashboard. Learn more.

Task Location

Click the blue Choose Location button to set the task location. (optional)

Notifying contacts

Optionally, send an email message to one or more contacts. Nektar automatically sends the message after the user clicks the Record Task button (see below).

There are three ways to find a contact name: add by company contact, add by email, or select a user in your organization.

Nektar sends an email message to each contact in the list but does not send a notification to the Message Center (if you select a user in the organization).

Recording a task against an asset

Each task must be recorded against an asset.

Preloaded

If the task definition was set up to pre-load an asset, Nektar displays that asset name at the bottom of the page. Click the Record Task button to complete this task.

Optionally, the user can click the X icon to remove the pre-loaded asset and select a different asset.

Adding an asset

To add an asset to the task:

  1. Click the Record Task button. A popup displays.

  2. Go to the Search field and enter all or part of an asset number (or Identifier Number).

  3. Click the Search icon.

  4. Click the asset number to open the asset summary. (optional)

  5. Click the icon to select the asset.

  6. Click Record Task. Nektar displays a success message.

Optionally, the user can scan a tag with a webcam to enter an asset.

Reviewing the log

After the platform successfully records a task, the page displays a log. Scroll down to the bottom of the page. Click a link to review the task or asset.
