Drawing shapes

There are several draw modes.

Using map tools

When you create a shape, a window displays one or more menu options. Click a link to jump to a section in this article.

Optionally, click the pencil icon to edit the shape's dimensions. Click the three-dot icon to record a task or add to Flags.

Creating an asset

Use a map location to create an asset. Click the button, and a new window displays the Create Asset form. Fill in the fields. The current map is auto-loaded into the Asset Location widget. Click the button to drop a pin on the map.

Finding assets in an area

Create a shape and click the asset button in the popup. The map shows asset locations or red circles to indicate a cluster of assets. Zoom in or click a red circle to display asset icons. Click an icon to display asset information in a popup.

If you click the asset number, the asset summary page displays in a new popup. Optionally, click an icon to access map tools (see below).

  • Breadcrumbs - Open a new map that shows the asset's location history.

  • Three-dots - Display a menu of options.

Sending data to an asset grid

Quickly locate map assets with the same asset definition type and display them in a grid. It's a two-step process.

1 Draw a shape to find assets.

2 Draw a new shape to highlight the assets. In the popup, select Send data to grid.

A new window displays assets organized by asset definition type. Select an option.
