Updating an Existing Geofence

Edit a geofence's boundary, color, name, and linked project

Written by Alastair Cottier

Once a geofence exists, you can change both its details and its boundary at any time. Updating a geofence requires the Create, Edit, and Delete Geofences permission.

Updating geofence details

Select the geofence from the geofence navigation panel. You can edit its name, description, color, and linked project, then click Save.

Changing the geofence boundary

On the geofence's map, click Edit Shape. The map opens with the current boundary loaded. Re-draw the region, then confirm your selection. Click Save to apply the change.

Click "Edit Shape"

Re-draw the region and click "Use this location"

Click "Save"

Changing the boundary recalculates which assets are currently inside the geofence. This may trigger automations and notifications as assets enter or exit the new area. You'll be asked to confirm before the change is saved.
