An automation is a process that is handled by the system without user inputs whenever data is created or edited. This includes sending notifications to specific users or creating a work order based on the associated data.

While automations vary in their purpose, they share certain characteristics:

  • Triggers, including the data type (asset, task, etc), an associated definition/template, a project to filter by, and when the trigger occurs (update, create, etc)

  • Rules, specific conditions which must be satisfied by the data in order for the automation to be triggered, such as litres of fuel in a truck below a certain amount

  • Actions, the resulting process that occurs when the trigger and it's rules are satisfied

Further aspects of an automation are determined by the settings you define when setting the characteristics described above. They can be created, edited, and otherwise managed in the Automation Manager.
