An asset definition is the structure that determines an asset's content, visibility, and functionality. In essence, it is a template for creating tasks. Asset definitions are organized by a category and class, both of which are mandatory. These labels are used to group and filter asset definitions.
Notable aspects of asset definitions include:
A custom icon and colour to represent the asset definition.
A description.
Elements organized into sections (individual data elements like checkboxes, text inputs, lists, numeric inputs, etc.).
Valid task definitions (restrict only certain types of tasks from being allowed to be recorded against assets of a certain type).
Settings for toggling whether assets of this type should be allowed to be attached to a project, specific columns that should be used to create an asset identifier and whether the asset definition is active or not (used to disable the use of a definition without deleting it)
