Looking for a barcode scanner to use with the Nektar web app?

Using Nektar on a mobile device is great. You can scan barcodes and QR tags with your camera, which is a time-saver because you don't need to type in tag numbers. But what about the web app? Well, tag scanning is possible with a Bluetooth-capable HID Keyboard-Emulating barcode scanner.

Our recommendation is the Tera 8100 Industrial 2D Handheld Barcode Scanner. Cheap and durable, it can scan 1D (barcodes) and 2D (QR codes, Data Matrix, etc.). The Tera can be ordered directly from the company's website or Amazon. It is usually available for less than $100.​


Suggested settings

Please follow the user manual instructions for setting up and pairing the device. Once you have the scanner set up, we recommend some specific settings. The first is setting the scanner into HID (Human Interface Device) mode. This makes the scanner emulate a keyboard. You can enable that setting by scanning the following barcode:
