Looking for a barcode scanner to use with the Nektar web app?

Using Nektar on a mobile device is great, you can scan barcodes and QR tags with your camera and don't need to type in tag numbers manually, but what about on the Web app? Well, you can do that too, through the use of a Bluetooth capable 'HID Keyboard Emulating' barcode scanner.

Our recommendation for scanners is the Tera 8100 Industrial 2D Handheld Barcode Scanner. It is both cheap, and durable and scans 1D (barcodes) and 2D (QR codes, Data Matrix, etc.) The Tera can be ordered directly from their website or even from Amazon and is usually available for less than $100.


Please follow the user manual instructions for setting up and pairing the device. Once you have the scanner set up, there are some specific settings that we recommend. The first is setting the scanner into HID (Human Interface Device) mode. This makes the scanner emulate a keyboard. You can set that by scanning the following barcode:


Next, the speed at which the scanner "types" should be set. We recommend setting it to medium speed. Do that by scanning the following barcode:
