The asset identifier is a short bit of text that you can use to better identify an asset when in interfaces that can not show all of the asset info. The asset identifier consists of 1 to 5 element values of your choice. Each asset definition has its own set of elements in the identifier.

In order to set or change the asset identifier go to the Asset Definition Manager page, select the definition you would like to edit, then click on the blue text below the header Identifier Elements.

That will open a modal that will allow you to add/remove elements that are a part of the identifier and also allows you to change the order in which the elements appear.
