  • Feature: Attach a beacon to an asset using the mobile app (currently iOS only).

  • Use: Beacons provide a real-time view of asset location and status.

Prerequisites

Before you attach a beacon to an asset, confirm the beacon feature is enabled for the asset type, and the user has the proper permissions.

Attaching a beacon

To attach a beacon to an asset, open the app on a mobile (iOS) device. Tap Asset Summary on the side menu.

Scroll down to the Beacon section. Tap the link and follow the screen prompts.

If the asset does not have a beacon, Nektar displays a Tap to Attach Beacon link.

Read the text on the screen. When prompted, remove the plastic battery tab from the beacon and tap the link to begin the beacon boot. Wait one minute.

Fasten the beacon to the asset. The asset's location automatically updates as it encounters users with the mobile app.

You can also scan the beacon (instead of using a QR code) when recording tasks, viewing an asset summary, etc.

Viewing the asset

The asset summary page (web and mobile devices) shows the last updated location of the asset.
