If you've ever found yourself in a situation where you need to create an asset, but it will be nearly the exact same as an existing asset and you don't want to go through all the steps to create it again - then Clone Asset is for you!
Clone Asset allows you to select an existing asset, and clone it (and it's tasks and pictures if you choose) to a new asset number. The process is simple.
Begin by heading to Clone Asset in the side navigational menu
Next, enter in the asset number of the asset you wish to clone. You can also enter in a partial asset number and the search bar will display any assets that match your query. Go ahead and click one (note, if you click the blue asset number, you will instead be taken to the Asset Summary page for that asset)
The Clone Asset screen will then expand to show you a few options. Options include whether or not associated pictures, tasks and the asset's location are copied over to the new clone.
You will be required to choose an asset number for the new cloned asset. You can either type in a specific asset number, or have one generated for you by clicking Generate New (highlighted in red)
Once all information is validated and you are happy with your choices, click Clone Asset. A new distinct copy of the original asset will then be generated, which has no physical tie to the original asset. This new asset can then be modified if required by opening the asset in Asset Summary and editing it.
