  • Feature: Integrate your John Deere OEM telematics device with Nektar.

  • Use: Display John Deere vehicle data within the Nektar interface.

Prerequisites

You must subscribe to our telematics module. Integrating JDLink devices has an associated cost. Contact your sales rep for pricing.

Setting up a John Deere device

If you have multiple John Deere vehicles with telematics devices, you only need to complete these steps once.

  1. Log in to https://teammanager.deere.com with your JDLink credentials.

  2. Click Add in the top right corner.

  3. Select Partner Organization.

Select Grant access. Enter aemp@geotab.com in the email address field. Click Next.

Go to the Equipment section and select Access Level 1 (View Only Permissions). Uncheck the two boxes under the Grant Additional Permissions heading.

In the Organization Management section, select Access Level 2. Check the Share Organization Data with Connected Software Companies box.

In the Locations section, select Access Level 1.

Set all other permissions to Access Level 0. Finally, click Next and Done.

Setting up Nektar

Contact your Nektar customer support representative and ask for some virtual Geotab IDs. Let the agent know how many devices you want to add and that they are for John Deere / JDLink.

Your customer support representative will provide you with a list of virtual IDs. At this point, the virtual IDs are generic and not associated with any specific vehicle or piece of equipment.

Log in to your Nektar account, go to the Asset Manager, and open the asset type for a vehicle. Make sure the telematics setting is enabled for each asset type. Read this article to learn how.

Open the Asset Summary page for each telematics integration vehicle. Click Install Device in the telematics widget.

Choose Geotab OEM Integration as the device type.

Fill in the Geotab ID field with a virtual ID provided by the Nektar customer rep. Enter the vehicle's VIN/serial (or equivalent).

Finally, click Install. The setup is done. After some time, the telematics widget and asset location should begin automatically updating. OEM integrations expose varying amounts of data, so not all charts, gauges, or details will be filled out on all integrations.

Virtual Geotab IDs can be reused if the equipment is retired or sold. Be sure to unlink the device from the Nektar asset before deleting or deactivating the asset.
