Different layout styles for list data

Lists inside asset or task definitions can have one of two layout styles: internally cascading and externally cascading.

Internal list usage

When you create an asset or record a task, an internal list starts with one field. Each time you select a menu option, another field displays until you reach the last level of the list. Nektar displays the selected value in the final level on the asset or task page.

External list usage

When creating an asset or recording a task, an external list displays all the list fields at once. Your choice at one level affects the menu options on the next level. What's different here, compared to the internal list type, is the data display. Use the external list to display more information on the final asset or task record.

On the asset or task summary page, Nektar displays the selected menu item from each external list level.

External lists require a bit more setup time. Click the links below and learn how to create each list type.
